blue work shirt

16 11 2010

Same as the “Big Yank” I put up a few weeks ago. Tencel twill, dyed blue-green with grey topstitching and orange tacks.

Since seeing this style in a Big Yank ad from the 50s, I found another drawing of it, from 1929. The specifics on the cigarette pocket are pretty exacting– these days, such a shirt would likely require a warning label.

This has a two piece sleeve, extra wide sleeve placket, vintage dark shell buttons, bemberg lined yoke, removable collar stays. And two non-specific but different pockets suitable for whatever you’d like to carry around.

I’ve been working with a new fabric and trying out new styles. There’ll be more about that later. I’m doing some new western shirts, and some work shirts. This one is grey tencel twill, from a vintage American design that is being reproduced by quite a few different labels these days.

An earlier drawing of a similar shirt, from 1929. Possibly for a patent application, which was common back then.
